YES! MVR IS TAKING GLASS

Missoula Valley Recycling is happy to announce that we will be taking glass starting in February. There will be an additional charge for this service. Here is how it will work:

-We will only be able to take ONE 20-gallon bin of glass (approximately 20-25 pounds) per customer. You may add any color glass, but it must be clean.
-We will require our customers to pay one dollar per pickup of this glass.
-If you do not wish to recycle glass, your cost will not go up.
-If you do wish to add one bin of glass per pick up, please add the two dollars to your current pickup price.

THE GLASS MUST BE CLEAN
WITH ABSOLUTLY NO BOTTLE TOPS

We will start in February so if you have and questions feel free to call us and address your question to our friendly answering machine. We cannot allow glass recycling to “break” the company as it almost did three years ago, that is the reason that we need to cover our costs in this venture. If it works out we will accept more glass per customer at the same bin rate next quarter. For now, please keep your amount no more than one small plastic recycling bin. However if you are one of those people that have been saving glass, we will offer special pickups for glass only. Call us for details. The glass we collect will be ground back into sand and used locally for filtration, landscaping, sandbags, roads, and hopefully other value added products. We welcome your ideas.

MVR TO PRIORITIZE PAPER RECYCLING.

As we worked on glass recycling, we realized that while glass comprises 6% of the landfill, wood products constitute 60% percent of the landfill. This year MVR will contact the many government offices, restaurants, and businesses in Missoula that throw out a tremendous amount of cardboard, junk mail, and white or colored paper.

PLEASE REMEMBER

We take computers now (but not keyboards or monitors).
And we take good quality clothing to the YWCA
We still cannot take solid color plastics.
