SO far, this winter has been coooold. We had to cancel our 4th Tuesday route (south hills) before Thanksgiving, due to severe weather conditions. Frankly, it crept up on us fast, and we had to get in line to put our snow tires on. We also didn’t work on Thanksgiving, so we got a little behind. We ended up doing a lot of make up pickups the following week. Feel free to call our friendly answering machine on updates during severe weather in the future.
MISSOULA’S BIGGEST CO2 SAVERS
Thanks to the research of university student, Josie Pyles, we were able to come up with values as to The Top Co2 Savers in Missoula: We have done research to discover how much atmospheric CO2 recycling saves for PAPER (1.5 lbs.CO2 saved for every pound recycled), PLASTIC (2.0 lbs. CO2 saved for every pound recycled) and METAL OR TIN (1.5 lbs saved for every pound recycled) and ALUMINUM (1O TIMES the lbs. saved in CO2 by recycling one pound). Since a gallon of gas releases almost 20 lbs of CO2 into the atmosphere, after combustion, we included the CO2 saved by recycling to the equivalent in gallons of gas. For instance, St. Patricks Hospital recycled 25% of their waste saving the equivalent of almost 3000 gallons of gas in one year. Check it out !!
We have listed 25 companies so far, but we will be updating and adding the smaller companies that recycle with us. After all, some small businesses and residential customers recycle a higher percentage of their waste than the big companies. Go to our webpage for more companies plus links to research.
