MVR Summer Newsletter 2008

Most of us are glad summer is here, but it does get hot. Please remember to rinse food from your cans and bottles, as it will cause a bad smell if not rinsed out.

As gas prices go up we are aware that curbside recycling is more important than ever, and it’s good to see that more businesses are recycling in Missoula. We update our web page with the new school sponsors, and businesses that sign up for recycling.

It looks like our garbage company, Allied Waste (which bought BFI) will merge with Republic Services in a stock deal worth 6 billion. Pending approval, the new company will control about 60 percent of the waste service industry in the U.S. along with number one player, Waste Management.  Waste companies incomes have been hurt by the slowing housing market, and raising fuel prices. Time will tell what the merger will mean for our garbage service prices.

We finally did a (humorous) radio commercial with Simmons broadcasting; our partner in helping the RITS (Recycling In The Schools) program. We will be adding the radio spots to our website for your entertainment. Check out events, our RITS developments, the businesses that recycle, and more, on our website at:

 www.missoulavalleyrecycling.com.

Have a great summer! And remember to call us in advance if you’ll be vacationing on your pickup day. You may receive a credit or reschedule a pickup. We’re at 543-2972
